President Barack Obama shook hands with Psy at Sunday’s taping of TNT's "Christmas in Washington" concert even as the controversy surrounding the South Korean pop singer's anti-American past continued to swirl. Yet Psy's performance could still be cut before the show's Dec. 21 airdate.
The latest word from TNT? "Psy's performance will be included," Samantha Graham, the network's vice president for public relations, tells The Huffington Post.
The concert, taped at the National Building Museum, was hosted by Conan O'Brien and featured performances by Diana Ross, Demi Lovato, "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery, and Megan Hilty, star of NBC’s "Smash" -- none of whom declined to share a stage with the "Gangnam Style" performer.
"The only way that TNT would reconsider airing Psy's performance is if advertisers started to pull out," one media insider says. "But if the president and Diana Ross don't seem to have a problem, I'm not sure advertisers will. At the moment, most of the outrage seems to be on social media. Psy has apologized, and the next few days will be critical to see what happens."
